How to apply

IIMCIP does not run one common application form. Each standing programme has its own page and its own portal, so start from the programme that matches your sector and stage rather than IIMCIP's general contact address:

• Very early-stage, in mobility, manufacturing or social impact, based in eastern, north-eastern or central India: apply to Maruti Suzuki NURTURE.
• Already earning revenue, working on a social or environmental problem: apply to the Kotak BizLabs Accelerator Programme.
• Early-stage, in circular economy or sustainability: apply to the Prakriti Incubation Launchpad.
• Based in West Bengal, running a micro-enterprise or MSME: look at the Bengal Business Accelerator Program.
• Already resident in IIMCIP's incubation or virtual incubation track for at least three months: you can apply for NIDHI Seed Support or the DST-NSTEDB Seed Support Program.

What reviewers look for

• DPIIT registration and revenue proof matter for the accelerator track. Kotak BizLabs specifically asks for DPIIT registration and revenue traction over the last 12 months.
• Shareholding matters for the seed-fund schemes. Both NIDHI Seed Support and DST-NSTEDB Seed Support require Indian promoters to hold at least 51% of the company.
• Selection is staged, not a single interview. Kotak BizLabs runs applications, screening, onboarding, mentoring and only then investor connects and a demo day; Maruti Suzuki NURTURE runs regional idea hunts before a grand idea hunt; Prakriti Incubation Launchpad narrows a cohort of ten down to five over several months.
• Fit with the sponsor's business areas can matter. Some programmes list innovation areas tied to a specific corporate partner's business lines, so check the eligibility list before applying.

Before you apply

• Read the specific programme page, not just the IIMCIP homepage. Programme pages carry their own eligibility, timeline and application link, and some are hosted on separate microsites.
• For incubation and seed-fund queries, use contact@iimcip.org. Careers questions go to hr@iimcip.org, and media questions go to marketing@iimcip.org.
• Rolling programmes reopen. Several rural and North East programmes referenced on the site (NEEDP, the Assam incubator programme) had already closed their most recent application window — check the live page for open dates before treating the earlier stated grant amounts as active.

IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) is a Section 8, not-for-profit company set up in 2014 under the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. It is recognised as a Technology Business Incubator by the Department of Science and Technology, and it is based on the IIM Calcutta campus at Joka, Kolkata.

What they support

IIMCIP organises its work into four stages: Immersion (hackathons and seminars that introduce students and aspiring founders to entrepreneurship), Pre-Incubation (helping early-stage innovators take an idea to a prototype), Incubation (helping startups reach product-market fit) and Acceleration (helping startups already generating revenue scale further). Across its programmes it works with founders in social impact, sustainability and the circular economy, agri-tech, fintech, edtech, healthcare and deep tech, as well as mobility and manufacturing through its programme with Maruti Suzuki. A number of its programmes are aimed specifically at underserved regions and rural livelihoods, including women-led enterprises linked to self-help groups.

Programmes

IIMCIP's incubation offer gives resident startups furnished office space on the IIM Calcutta campus, along with a virtual incubation option for founders who cannot be based in Kolkata. Two seed-funding schemes, NIDHI Seed Support and the DST-NSTEDB Seed Support Program, are open to startups that have spent at least three months in either incubation track, are registered in India with Indian promoters holding at least 51% shareholding, and use the funds for product development, testing, market entry or related costs.

On the acceleration side, the Kotak BizLabs Accelerator Programme is a CSR initiative of Kotak Mahindra Bank that takes 20 early-revenue-stage startups working on social or environmental impact through mentorship, capacity-building bootcamps, business-model and go-to-market guidance, and investor readiness support, ending in a demo day in front of Kotak leadership and investors. The Bengal Business Accelerator Program is a similar acceleration track focused on West Bengal's micro-enterprises and MSMEs.

On the pre-incubation side, Maruti Suzuki NURTURE is a joint programme with Maruti Suzuki for very early-stage startups in eastern, north-eastern and central India working on mobility, manufacturing and social-impact ideas. Shortlisted teams go through regional idea hunts, a grand idea hunt and mentoring, and the strongest teams get a guided visit to a Maruti Suzuki manufacturing facility, access to Maruti Suzuki's ecosystem and alumni network, and a shot at a paid proof-of-concept.

The Prakriti Incubation Launchpad, run with the Pernod Ricard India Foundation, is a 12-month programme for early-stage circular-economy and sustainability startups, moving a cohort of ten through mentorship and capacity building down to a final cohort of five for a demo day. IIMCIP also runs the Social Impact Incubation Programme and the long-running TATA Social Enterprise Challenge for social entrepreneurs, and it has recently added new state and sector partnerships, including a Jharkhand Incubator Programme with the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society for women-led rural enterprises, and a role as technical agency on an IFAD-backed agroecology project.

IIMCIP also has a track record in the North East and rural India that goes beyond a single Kolkata campus. It has run the North East Entrepreneurship Development Program with the North Eastern Council across all eight north-eastern states, giving prototype and commercialisation grants to shortlisted entrepreneurs, and it has run a rural incubation programme in Assam for women-owned enterprises linked to self-help groups, in partnership with the Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission Society. Neither of these states a separate branch office; they describe state-wide or region-wide programme delivery rather than a satellite campus.

Facilities and support

Startups accepted into physical incubation get furnished office space on the IIM Calcutta campus, with internet, printing and conferencing facilities, at no charge. Beyond space, IIMCIP offers mentorship from IIM Calcutta faculty, alumni and outside entrepreneurs and investors; help raising equity or debt funding and introductions to angel and institutional investors; support services such as legal, secretarial, IT, HR and payroll help from partner firms at preferential rates; and structured training programmes on building and scaling a business.

Track record

IIMCIP says it has helped more than 1,000 startups achieve significant growth. Its partners over the years have included government bodies such as the Department of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the North Eastern Council, along with corporates such as Tata Sons, HDFC Bank, Balmer Lawrie, IDFC FIRST Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Maruti Suzuki India.

Who runs it

IIMCIP's governing body includes IIM Calcutta's Director, Alok Kumar Rai, and Deans Bhaskar Chakrabarti and Vivek Rajvanshi, alongside external members such as T.N. Hari, co-founder of Artha School of Entrepreneurship, and Arun Malhotra, former MD of Nissan Motors India. Day-to-day operations are led by Chief Operating Officer Pranjal Konwar, Chief Business Officer Gaurav Kapoor and Chief Finance Officer Debapratim Das, with a team of programme, incubation and communications staff based in Kolkata.
