About this subsidy
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries supports seaweed culture by the monoline / tubenet method, including inputs (item 2.6 of the scheme's mariculture activity list). One unit is approximately 15 ropes of 25 metre length.
The benchmarked unit cost is ₹0.08 lakh. Government assistance is ₹0.032 lakh (₹3,200) per unit for a general beneficiary and ₹0.048 lakh (₹4,800) per unit for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary. A group can be supported for 100 units for Kappaphycus and up to 300 units for Gracilaria species.
Proposals are submitted through the State/UT Fisheries Department.
