About this subsidy
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), the Department of Fisheries supports establishment of seaweed culture rafts including inputs (item 2.5 of the scheme's mariculture activity list).
The benchmarked unit cost is ₹0.015 lakh per raft. Government assistance is ₹0.006 lakh (₹600) per raft for a general beneficiary and ₹0.009 lakh (₹900) per raft for an SC/ST/Women beneficiary. Assistance is restricted to 15 rafts per member with a ceiling of 500 rafts per group or society — so a 35-member society working at the ceiling can be supported on a meaningful commercial scale.
Proposals are made through the State/UT Fisheries Department.
