Participants are expected to function like real startups, developing comprehensive solutions across various crucial areas.

The vision behind this challenge is to create Karnataka's next iconic food startup by synergizing Kalaburagi's rich culinary tradition with the power of entrepreneurship, technology, branding, and innovation. It seeks to explore new avenues for branding, marketing, leveraging technology for e-commerce, optimizing supply chain and logistics, innovating packaging and products, and developing robust business models for market expansion, both nationally and internationally. This initiative is particularly important for generating employment opportunities, providing support to local farmers and producers, fostering entrepreneurship within the region, building a vibrant food innovation ecosystem, and ultimately establishing Kalaburagi as a recognized destination for unique food brands.

The selection process involves an initial screening of participating teams, which will be held at the VTU Regional Centre on July 6, 2026. This preliminary round will assess the innovation and potential of the submitted ideas, ensuring they align with the challenge's objectives to build a global food brand around Kalaburagi Rotti. Teams that successfully pass this screening will advance to the final round, scheduled for July 13, 2026. During the final round, teams will present their detailed business models and solutions to a panel of expert judges. The winning team will be selected based on the novelty of their approach, scalability of their idea, market potential, feasibility, and the strength of their proposed execution plan for developing a successful and globally recognized food brand.
