EPO initiatives for patent applicants

Includes a 30% language-related reduction of filing and/or examination fees for applicants from certain non-EPO language EPC Contracting States who are microenterprises, SMEs, natural persons, non-profit organisations, universities or public research organisations. Also, a 30% micro-entity fee reduction for all main fees in the patent grant procedure for microenterprises, natural persons, non-profit organisations, universities or public research organisations who have filed fewer than five EP or Euro-PCT applications in the last five years. Lump sum compensation for Unitary Patent-related translation costs is available for SMEs in the EPO's 40 Member States who filed in a non-English/French/German language and request unitary effect. Post-grant fee reductions for Unitary Patent proprietors (15% reduction in renewal fees for willingness to license) and reduced appeal fees for eligible entities are also offered.
